South Africa
Very few African countries have as much to offer as South Africa with its diverse landscapes and accessible wildlife; there's a reason it is regularly described as a world in one country! From the renowned Kruger National Park, to the amazing scenery on the Panorama Route, to the vineyards of the Western Cape and the Mother City itself, South Africa really does have something for everyone, and that's before we talked coast and beaches or mentioned the amazing food that has you coming back time and time again!
Safety is a common concern but with a little pre-planning and some savvy common sense, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend South Africa for every holiday, every day of the year. It's our favourite!
Best Time to Visit
Did we mention every day of the year?! Yes, there is a dry season that runs from May to September (Autumn/Winter) and a wet season from October to April (Spring/Summer), but each season in South Africa has it's benefits so it really depends on the purpose of your trip. If you are looking for great weather on the coast, December to February is best but also peak for rates, so we love March and April best. The Garden Route is fantastic from July to October when the whales are migrating, making this an extra special time to visit, but the weather is better as it heads into Spring. Wildlife spotting is typically easier during the dry season, especially if you are self-driving, but if you've got a guide and you're in an open vehicle, any season is good and we love it when it's a little warmer for those early morning game drives.
